New Zealand: Boulders!

Yes…. the question is what are they or more like what were they??

well… Maori legend tells that the boulders are remains of calabashes, kumaras and eel baskets, and the other version is that the boulders are actually concretions that have been exposed through shoreline erosion from coastal cliffs that back the beach. They originally formed in ancient sea floor sediments around 60 million years ago. Believe which one you will, but Lennie, Tor and myself have visited two of the sights where they are present…. are they worth a visit..YEP 🙂 the Koutu boulders more so, as hardly any tourists go there.
